Entity and corporate filings
Annual report
A short filing most states require once a year to keep a business entity in good standing. Separate from a license renewal.
An annual report, which some states file biennially, is the periodic update an entity files to confirm its address, officers, and registered agent and to stay in good standing. A fee usually accompanies it.
Miss the deadline and a state can administratively dissolve the entity, which in turn can put any license riding on that entity at risk. Tracking each state's report date is basic to keeping licenses alive.
